Blonde people especially women love to get tanned due to their pale skin tone on the contrary brown people try not get tanned and barely expose their body parts to the ultraviolet rays of the sun.

Except just the tanning these ultraviolet rays which are much sharper and extremely effective in summer lead to diseases like sin cancer, premature ageing and eye damage as well.

Therefore to avoid getting tanned in summer extra precaution should be taken to help protect you from overexposure to UV rays.

To safeguard yourself from the heat and sun rays following steps can be taken:-

  1. Use Sunscreen:-

    Sunscreen must be used almost every day, especially in warmer months.  Choosing a sunscreen with broad spectrum like UVA / UVB. Sunscreen of a minimum of SPF 30 – 50 is must to apply to avoid getting tanned in summer. Sunscreen must be applied thirty minutes prior to going out in the sun.

  2. Protective clothing:- 

    Clothing makes a lot of difference, as the covered areas tend to protect the body from the sun rays. To avoid getting tanned in summer dark coloured clothing which has high ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) than light coloured clothing. On the contrary, long sleeves and long pants provide the most protection. Except this sunglasses and hat can also be worn to avoid sun rays to affect the eyes and the hair of the body.

  3. Avoid periods of peak sunlight:- 

    Sun rays are the strongest during the hours of 10 AM to 4 PM of the day. Ultraviolent rays are gradually higher and more intense at higher altitude, spring and summer months, and places near the equator. So to avoid getting tanned in summer these things are supposed to be kept in mind.

  4. Seek shade wherever possible:- 

    Though ultraviolet rays are not controlled by the shade during peak sunlight hours, still one can seek a natural shade to avoid getting tanned in summer. Carry an umbrella along to get that minimal shade to avoid the strong and harsh UV rays.
